I was working on Outlook 2007 and made a back up (on disc) of my emails in .pst format. I am currently working on Outlook Express 6 and really need to view some of those saved emails. Is it possible to open these emails to view? My system says it cant open the .pst file when I click on it in the disc drive. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Unfortunately, that may not be possible. Reading "newer" protocols with an "older" program generally is not possible due to updates to the programming. 7 might open 6, but 6 probably will not open 7.

Yes. However some important things to note about configuring Outlook Express (OE)
You can configure OE to leave mail on the server (typically a check box) or to remove it from the server. I don't remember the exact path to get to the setting but the Help menu will certainly guide you.
If it is configured not to remove from the server, then you will be able to see your email both via the web and in OE.
However, if you configure OE to remove from the server then it is a bit more convoluted. You will still be able to see your email via the web, but once you start OE, it will download the email to your machine and remove it from the server so it will no longer be viewable via the web - only in OE.
I use Outlook 2007 and use this to an advantage. I have it configured to remove email from the server but how I manage email is by using the web interface to preview and remove most of the garbage BEFORE I start Outlook. Then once I triage my email, I start Outlook which now downloads (and removes from the server) only the important emails I want.

You need to pay extra for that service. In your Yahoo mail, click on Upgrades where you will see the premium services. Once you subscribe, they will send you instructions for connecting your Outlook Express to Yahoo. It won't work with the free version of Yahoo.

I just moved and everything works perfect since I've hooked up my computer except my Outlook Express. The first time I tried to access it after it got hooked up at this new house, a box popped up with my username and password. It has never done this before. Anyhow, my username and pw where already filled in so I click "ok". It did not accept them though. The only change that has been made since my move is Cox (my ISP) gave me a new modem and took my older one. (They are both cable modems and I don't see why this would be the cause of any problems).

Hi, submitted this question a few days ago, received an answer to right click menu bar, choose customize, press reset and close...did this, but I have only gmail icon and yahoo mail neither of which I use or will ever use; I just want my regular email icon to appear. It used to be just an envelope with the word mail. This is on my tool bar as well, but it is yahoo mail. Now I need to get rid of those three icons (how?) and would like to place my regular email icon there. Not very computer savy, so please subit answers like you were talking to a dummy (thats me)

Make sure the toolbar is unlocked first (right click on toolbar). Then I think all you have to do is drag the outlook express icon from your desktop into the toolbar, and it saves it there. Then, when done, lock your toolbar again so you don't delete it again...

I need help with my OUTLOOK EXPRESS email!!?
I really need somebody who is computer savy to give me some advice about my outlook express email. When I click into it it says that it is receiving mail and it the will freeze up. I have about 16 emails from the same address and I guess they were a virus or something. I am in a real jam because I have SO much information in that email account that I can't get to. If you only have one email account coming in through Outlook Express, call your email service provider and tell them to clear your email incoming messages. If you have more than one email account coming in through OE, you need to find out which account is causing the jam.
Disconnect the computer from the internet.
Restart the computer.
Open Outlook Express.

Uncheck the box: "Send and receive messages at startup."
Click OK as many times as necessary to close all screens except the main OE screen.

Click Tools, Send and Receive, and click the next account. If the computer freezes, call customer support on that account and get the incoming messages deleted.

If deleting that account didn鈥檛 solve the problem, call customer service. It is now their problem.

Not at all - in fact you might find it easier - as your emails can be downloaded to your PC, where you can send and recieve your emails from.... save you going on to the website

I used to intern at a place where I had to check Outlook continuesly throughout the day. I would just keep it open but minimized and whenever a new email would come up, it would show at the right corner of my screen by the time. A little window would pop up to say I have a new email and who it is from.
I am now working and have to also check email continuesly throughout the day, but this Outlook doesnt have the same function. I want to know how to get that feature on Outlook so that I dont have to always click on it continuesly, and it will just pop up on that little window to show me there is a new email when it arrives.

I do not know whether you use Yahoo widgets. There is one great one called informer. .When you do not have widgets and do not want to use them ok. Then have fun with JMM.

It's prolly set with a rather high number and hence you're not seeing the alert very often therefore you're thinking you having to check your incoming mail manually in order to know if there's any new mail or not.

Accessing work Outlook Express email from home - Is the stuff on MY computer secure?
I recently resigned from the worst company you could imagine. I used to use their website for work email using outlook express and while they've deleted my email account I can still log into their other accounts that I happen to remember the passwords for (idiots?). My ex-employers are heavily into spying on their staff (like 24/7 - and it's a very small company) and have just issued a number of warnings to my ex-colleagues for looking at facebook, ebay, and the like, accompanied with full print outs of the (password protected) pages in question.... I am still logging into their email from home as the whole thing is better than the TV for entertainment, but being not so technically minded I need reassurance that I can see them but they can't see me???

The Webmail client on the mail server you are accessing would most likely be recording the IP address used to access the mailbox and that will point back to your Internet Service Provider and your personal line details. It would be a simple matter for your employer to check IP addresses if they suspected unauthorised people were accessing company mailboxes and track it back to you.
If you are going to email your ex-colleagues make sure you use their private email addresses, certainly not their work email.
Take my advice - don't push your luck or you may end up in deep s**t! Take care...

They HAVE disabled your access by removing your personal company mail account and that's the limit of what they are able to do. As you are no longer employed by the company, any access using previously stored passwords on your computer would be regarded as unauthorised, making you liable.
Once you ceased employment you are no longer authorised to access company mail accounts and should delete all existing shortcuts from your computer. For security reasons your employer should update passwords on a regular basis anyway to avoid situations such as this.
PLEASE take my advice and don't go there again otherwise we may be reading about you in the Sydney Morning Herald!! (I'm in Australia too)
Good luck with finding a better job.

This can lead to fraud etc. although I feel you are not out to defraud the company you are legally no longer able to use the system without THEIR permission as you are no longer an employee ! If my access code was 1234 and you used my system I could actually sue you in MANY countries !!

This can lead to fraud etc. although I feel you are not out to defraud the company you are legally no longer able to use the system without THEIR permission as you are no longer an employee ! If my access code was 1234 and you used my system I could actually sue you in MANY countries !!

MS Outlook Express Email HELP!!!?
I sent a large file from my mom's computer to mine.....3 days ago. Still stuck in my mom's computer and won't stop sending. She has turned off the computer, closed Express, all that stuff. She cannot get any new emails, and in fact, Express won't let her go to her inbox or any other boxes. She also disconnected the internet from her computer and when she put it back on, the file is still there trying to send. She's pretty PO'd at me and I can't blame her. Any ideas on how to get this file to quit??

When I send email in yahoo messenger it pops up Outlook express. How do I change this to my yahoo email?

Computer is 98 windows, running outlook expres for email. I dont know what happened but now when I either "create and email" or "respond to email" the little email block is locked in down in the lower left corner of my computer, so i can not see what i am typing. There is a free program called "YPOPS" it's not approved by yahoo and is not fully compatible some users can get it to work but most can't.
If you have “yahoo.co.uk” address some users can get free pop forwarding see below.
Click “options” (top right) on your mail page%26gt;mail options%26gt;pop and forwarding%26gt;
Set up or edit pop %26amp; forwarding%26gt;type in the address you want to forward to and
click save.

Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smpt.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 465.

are you sure that you have the right name or password, maybe you need to remove the program from your computer, and then install it again. that or there maybe a virus that wants to come through with the file that is being recieved and with virsus scans on computers these days, its prevented. you might want to check with the send on what they are sending or if they can send it to another address or though fax.

You can't send without logging in and when you log in, the recipient will know who sent it.

you can change this in the settings for Outlook. Go to your account options and check the box that says leave a copy on server. This will import your mail to outlook, but will also leave it on the regular mail.
