Outlook express email - can't receive pictures?
In outlook express..is there a limit on the amount of pictures I can get or send - or does anybody know how to change that?
somebody tried to send me pictures - and it was sent back to them.
and, when I tried to send - it just wouldn't go because the pictures were to big.
Is there place to change this- the size that can be sent out - and be sent to me.

There is a limit to the amount of memory you can use. If you delete some of the things you no longer need you may be able to fit them in. Sometimes you may get a message that says your virtual memory is to small and asks you if you want the system to automatically upgrade it, if you say yes there you can up grade your memory ... that's the only place I know of off hand to expand it.

But first try this:
A THOROUGH CLEANUP, WIN XP:
While you are connect to the Internet do the following:
1. Click on “Tools” ... “Internet options.” There you will see three buttons next to each other... "Delete Cookies" ... "Delete Files" and "Settings." Also, below the settings button you will see another one "Clear history."
2. Click on "settings" - go to “View files” – go to "Edit" - Click on "select all" - Go to “files” and click delete, wait till all “temp” files are gone.
3. Go back and click on "delete cookies" and wait till gone
4. Go back and click on "Delete files," put a check mark on the little white square shown on the small window that will open, click OK and wait to finish.
5. Go back and click on "Clear history", click “yes,” wait a little and you are done.
6. Now, perform a “Check disk” and then a “Defragmentation;” when finished, restart your computer and see if the problem is gone.
7. If the problem persists, get on the internet and look in the Yahoo search for the site of “Tune-Up Utilities 2006,” go to that site and download their free trial program; familiarize your self with it and use it to clean up your registry automatically, (Don’t do anything manually in the registry!). It is an excellent and safe little program that does wonders with PC maintenance tasks. I strongly recommend it!
8. If all of the above fail, go to Microsoft/Windows updates and download any new updates that may not have been downloaded automatically. If this doesn’t correct the problem, here is the address of an excellent library about windows tips and tricks and “how to” problem solving.

get ypops its a small free program that allows you to use a email client program with the free version of yahoo mail. Make sure you are using the old version of yahoo email. Hopefully you can just drag it out of the delete folder. If it is not in there, you will have to use a recovery program. I use pcrecovery. It is hard to set up and use, but it works. Use it immediately before it gets overwritten, or it is gone forever.

Outlook Express Email?
I've got a new computer and i want to set up an Outlook Express email account. I've tapped in what i want my email to be and its come up with my POP3 and SMTP servers. What does this mean and what do I type here? I have orange wireless broadband.

The SMTP address is smtp.mail.yahoo.com
You'll also need to do this :-
Log onto Yahoo mail (from your web browser)
click on Options and select Mail Options
Select POP %26amp; Forwarding

Click on [SAVE]

Reply:Basically you can't set the default to a web app. Yahoo is a web-based email client and Outlook Express is a local application. Microsoft OS's have to have a local applications to handle the default conditions (such as clicking on a web email link or right-click-%26gt;"send as atttachment"). Sending an attachment from your computer desktop (or local running app) and not from a web browser will not work. If you want to send an attachment you must login to Yahoo. Go to the mail website, create a new mail and add the attachment from the bottom of the creation page. No other method will work.

Are you referring to the program itself? It still comes standard with Win XP as well as Win 2K.
For the sake of argument, if you are referring to Outlook Express, and you did what I did when I first got the new Windows, Vista, I couldn't find it, either. All they did was change the name. It's now Windows Mail.
Now, if you're referring to an actual e-mail account, Outlook Express can be configured to use quite a variety of e-mail providers, provided that you can specify the incoming and outgoing mail servers, etc.

In the Management colum click "POP Access and Forwarding". Select "Web and POP access". Click on "View POP Settings". A page headed "POP Access settings" will load. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page click on "Setting up Microsoft Outlook Express". This will take you to a page that wil give you specific information on setting up Outlook Express.

You can make a email 'rule' to forward.
Depending on the version you have, to go Rules and start the wizard. Pick what messages for the rule, then pick 'forward' and the address.
I would think you could do this on the email server however, and it would be instant, and not require outlook to be running on a client.

Thats not a bad answer Wendy but the only problem with doing that though is it doesn't backup any of the mail settings or actual emails address settings.

I have to reformat my hard drive, and I'm worried about losing my email history and documents when I do. I have both Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, and want to back up either or both of them. I've tried to export and save folders, but maybe I'm doing something wrong--the program will only let me export or move them within the email program.
Is there a way to copy email files from Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express onto an external drive?

Select Export to a file.
Select Personal Folder File (.pst)
Select the folder to export from:
Click the Browse button to save it to the default location so it know where to look after you've re-installed the OS and apps and click Finish.
Copy it from the default location.
Re-install the OS and apps, and copy it back.
Outlook Express won't let you drag your email to a folder, but Outlook will.

When I left work yesterday, Outlook Express asked me if I would like to compact my mailbox (which I have done numerous times). I did try yahoo support, with very looooong pauses between the question and the answer. Ultimately they did not have an answer for me. My BOE Phone company probably wants a fee for an answer! The other answer came with pay per month options....not the best option when there are other options.
